Barb needs a home

None of us are supposed to have favorites among our kids, but when you have as many as I do (Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA saved 6,847 dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, guinea pigs and other animals in 2009, and is on target for a similar number this year) some of them are just bound to stand out. Barb is one of them. Today is her anniversary. And I'd really like to help make it a special one for her.
Barb first arrived at PHS/SPCA on this date in 2009. One of our "golden oldies" at something between eleven and a dozen years old, we'd sure love her to get to spend the rest of her life in a home.

Yes, she's a pitbull. Yes, she's old. Yes, one eye had to be removed for medical reasons and so, perhaps, she might be not everyone's idea of real beauty. And, yes, she's sort of a bossy old lady when it comes to other dogs -- not someone you'd want to have in a household with other female dogs, but would likely work out just fine with a big boy who understands that momma is in charge.
But despite that list equaling more than just three strikes, Barb is a totally loving, warm and cuddly smushy sweet dog. She needs a person or two in her life, and she's got so much silliness and love to offer back in return. She knows what a couch is for and is not shy at all about using one, and would really enjoy keeping you company on yours.
She deserves a home. Any out there? PHS/SPCA is located at 12 Airport Boulevard in San Mateo. You can read more about Barb on our website ( and even view her there starring in a short video. Please.
