Washington Co. Man Tries To Help Neighbor But Pit Bull Attacks

A Washington County man tells Channel 11 he was just trying to do a good deed, but he ended up wondering if he would survive the ordeal.
Kevin Shetterly, 41, said he has bandages on his arm that cover his wounds sustained by a pit bull.“He bit it all the way to the muscle. Forty stitches and surgery,” said Shetterly.
Shetterly of Charleroi said he was working on his girlfriend’s car in Long Branch when the neighbor’s pit bull got loose from his chain. The dog then hopped inside the car.Shetterly tried to be neighborly and take the dog back home.
“We got about 8 feet. The dog grabbed my arm,” said Shetterly.
Shetterly said the owner had to use force to get the dog off of his arm. He’s just glad no children were around while the dog was running loose.
The case has been turned over to the state dog warden to see if any charges will be filed against the dog owner.
Channel 11 was unable to reach the owner for comment.
