Dog Bites Woman at Howard Dog Park; Owner Sought

The Brown County Sheriff's Department is asking for help finding the owner of a dog that bit a woman at the new Howard Dog Park.
A 56-year-old Green Bay woman brought her golden retriever to the park Sunday afternoon shortly after 4:30 when a dog described as "a pit bull type" that was not on a leash ran toward them and jumped at her golden retriever.
The woman says the pit bull bit her on the ankle when she tried to pull her dog away.
According to the sheriff's department, the apparent owner of the pit bull called the dog "Buddah" and took the pit bull from the park. He got in a mid-sized, red pick-up truck with a woman carrying a toy poodle and "fled the area at a high rate of speed."
The apparent owner and the woman were both described as appearing Asian. No other descriptions are available.
The Green Bay woman was treated at a hospital for the puncture wounds and a cut.

Pit bull owner found

The owner of a pit bull that allegedly bit a woman at the Howard Dog Park has been found, authorities said.
The Brown County Sheriff's Office said an anonymous tip led officers to 32-year-old Mai Bongxay who confirmed he was at the park Sunday with the dog, which belonged to his brother-in-law. Bongxay said the dog was not leashed when it was mingling with other dogs and started to fight with the victim's golden retriever.
Bongxay said he grabbed the dog and took it from the park immediately. Bongxay said he was not aware the owner of the golden retriever had been bitten.
The pit bull was up-to-date on its vaccinations.
Sheriff's officials are working with the Brown County District Attorney's Office to determine possible charges against the man.
