West Bibb 8-Year-Old Bitten By Pit Bull

By Erika Adolphus, WMAZ

A west Bibb County child is recovering after he was bitten by a neighbor's pit bull.

That's according to Sergeant Sean DeFoe with the Bibb County Sheriff's Office.

DeFoe says Michelle Gale of Fulton Mill Road told officers that her 8-year-old son Hunter went to visit their neighbor Eric York around 7 p.m. Monday.

DeFoe says York's pit bull ran up and bit Hunter in the face.

The child was taken to the hospital for treatment.

DeFoe says the pit bull was taken to the animal shelter, where it will be in quarantine.  He says York was cited for violating the state leash law and failure to inoculate his dog.

DeFoe says Hunter was released later Monday evening.  He says the case is still under investigation, and more charges may be filed.
