Barking dog saves family as home burns to ground

A family pet is being hailed a hero today after a mobile home fire in Lumberton.
Police say the pit bull alerted everyone to get out of the burning house.
The attached video shows the fire engulfing the mobile home on the 100 block of Carolina, that's near Main Street.
It happened around 3 AM Sunday morning.
We've been told by the dog's owner, the pitbull started barking and scratching at the door.
Because of this the family of four escaped without injury.  Unfortunately the pitbull and another dog died in the fire.
The red cross is assiting the family. No word yet on what caused the fire.
