Complaints about drug activity lead to arrest

From Statesville Record & Landmark

Complaints about drug activity at an East Greenbriar Road home led to the arrest of one person. Spencer Mark Jackson, 20, of Statesville was arrested on charges of possession with intent to sell/deliver marijuana and maintaining a vehicle/dwelling for the sale of controlled substances.
Iredell Sheriff Phil Redmond said the Iredell County Sheriff's Office received numerous complaints about drug activity at a home in the 2700 block of East Greenbriar Road. Undercover detectives made numerous drug purchases at the residence within the past year, Redmond said.
On Wednesday, the narcotics and criminal investigation division served a search warrant at the residence and found seven ounces of marijuana hidden inside a dog food container. The dog food container was stored in amongst eight to nine pit bulls, detectives said.
Redmond said Iredell County Animal Services was called in because of the poor physical condition of the dogs.
He said detectives also found one ounce of marijuana on Jackson, as well as a loaded handgun. Another ounce was found inside the residence, he said.
This is the same residence where deputies served a search warrant in April 2009, Redmond said. Several individuals, include Jackson, were charged.
Jackson's bond was set at $25,000.
The investigation is ongoing and further charges are pending.
