Esopus man guilty of animal cruelty

From Times Herald-Record

Christopher Lyons of West Park pleaded guilty to two counts of animal cruelty on Thursday, in Town of Esopus Court.
Lyons was arrested in February by Ulster County SPCA investigators with assistance from the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office.
Following execution of a search warrant, two pit bulls were discovered in the basement of Lyons’s residence. Both dogs had physical trauma, according to a press release.
Lyons was charged with two misdemeanor violations of failure to provide proper sustenance to an impounded animal.
In July, after SPCA investigators found a third injured dog in Lyons’s possession, he was arrested again on similar charges.
Lyons was sentenced to probation with terms to be determined through a pre-sentencing investigation. All three dogs were surrendered to the Ulster County SPCA.
