Stockton city manager, puppy attacked by pit bulls

By Michelle Ponto, KXTV

Stockton city manager and his puppy are on the mend Friday morning after an attack by two pit bulls. The attack on Bob Deis and his golden retriever Enzo happened in a neighborhood near the University of Pacific.
The two of them were on a walk when the pit bulls went after the puppy and then bit Deis several times before neighbors were able to separate the dogs.
The dogs were captured and are being quarantined at the animal shelter.
Police say it was fortunate no one was seriously injured.
"For anybody who has been attacked basically by wild animals, it's just absolutely terrifying. It's amazing he was able to fend them off and protect himself and his dog," said Peter Smith of the Stockton Police Department.
The city manager and Enzo are both reported to be sore, but recovering from the ordeal.
Police say the history of the dogs involved will be evaluated to determine if they can possibly be returned to their owner.
