SW IN meter reader recovering after attack by pit bull

By Paige Quiggins, WAVE

A Evansville city employee is recovering after a dog attack sent him to the hospital. According to investigators, a pit bull bit a meter reader on the hand. The dog's owner claimed he warned the meter reader not to enter his yard.
"It is the responsibility of the home owner to make sure the dog is contained and that is what animal control is dealing with at the moment. Animal control will issue citations that they feel needs to be," said Jeff Hales of the Evansville Police Department.
The animal was surrendered to animal control where it will be quarantined to be monitored for rabies.
