6-Year-Old Boy Bitten By Pit Bull In Allentown

By Ralph Iannotti, KDKA

A 6-year-old boy was undergoing treatment at UPMC Children's Hospital after he was bitten in the face by a pit bull.

Elijah Simmons Whisner's mother had dropped him off Friday at the home of his grandmother, and aunt, Jennifer Whisner, on Manton Way, in Pittsburgh's Allentown section.

The boy and some friends went to the porch of a neighbor's home, where they were playing, when the dog, named Dough Boy, lunged at Whisner's face.

Nikki Goodwine, who lives nearby, heard some screams, ran over and grabbed the boy. She said it was a frightening scene and blood was gushing from the victim.

The boy's aunt, Jennifer Whisner, told KDKA TV the boy was bit on the upper lip and under his left eye, but he's doing well.

"It was an accident, an honest accident," Whisner said. "I feel bad for my nephew, and I feel bad for them [the dog's owner]."

The dog was taken from the home by Animal Control officers and the owner told police he wanted Dough Boy put down.
