Officer says he was forced to shoot pitbull at east-side home


SAPD officers were called to a reported hostage situation on the east side Wednesday night. At the home in the 1900 block of Hayes, the officer says he was forced the shoot and kill a pitbull dog when it charged him.
That officer is on administrative duty.
The suspect in custody is facing federal fire arms charges for using an AK-47.
The female hostage is safe.
