Pit Bulls Confiscated From Buena Vista Twp. Home

15 Dogs Removed From Homeowner's Property

TV5 has learned several dogs were taken from a back yard in Buena Vista Township on Tuesday for violating the township's vicious dog ordinance.
Officials were unsure if the dogs were being used for breeding or fighting.
Buena Vista Township Police said they found 15 pit bulls in a township backyard, cold, wet and wearing heavy chains around their necks.
One by one, the dogs deemed too aggressive were rounded up by Saginaw County Animal Control and taken away.
"It was befuddling to the detective and to myself as here we go again with this pit bull issue," said Buena Vista Police Chief Brian Booker.
The homeowner wasn't around as police executed a search warrant.
"I, as the police chief of Buena Vista, am totally fed up with this pit bull situation that we keep on running into," continued Booker. "A couple of years ago, we had that almost tragic incident involving three pit bulls."
After that attack which left a man severely injured, police cracked down using a vicious dog ordinance, one they said this dog owner is violating. It took animal control multiple trips to get all the dogs. The raid comes weeks before a millage vote for the department. If the funding goes away, police worry about how they'd handle situations like this in the future.
"Without our services, there would not be any of these trucks to help impound these animals," said Saginaw County Animal Control Officer Val McCullough.
Besides the dogs, police took pictures and evidence from the house. Animal Control will hold the dogs during the investigation.
