A Greensboro woman is accused of abandoning two dogs in a small kennel, causing them to become starved and covered in feces.

Police said warrants have been issued for Shakeva Laverne Green, 28, after she allegedly abandoned two 6-7 week-old pit bull puppies in a small kennel, causing them to become emaciated and covered in feces.

Green faces two counts of felony cruelty to animals.

Officials said one of the puppies had to be euthanized.

The alleged incident happened at an apartment at 3303 N. Elm St.

Crimestoppers is offering a cash reward of up to $2,000 for information leading to the arrest or indictment of Green. Anyone with information Green should contact Crimestoppers at 373-1000

Update: Woman arrested in puppy starvation case

A woman was arrested Wednesday on animal cruelty charges after police said she imprisoned, abandoned and starved two pit bull puppies in her apartment.
One of the puppies had to be euthanized.
Police have charged Shakeva Laverne Green, 28, with two counts of felony cruelty to animals, police said in a news release. Green was arrested Wednesday evening.
The case was reported Oct. 1, according to a police report. Police allege that Green abandoned two 6- to 7-week-old pit bull puppies in a small kennel at her home.
The puppies were emaciated and covered in feces, urine and blood, according to arrest warrants.
Warrants described the puppy that had to be euthanized as barely breathing, limp and unable to move when he was found.
The incident took place at 3303-G N. Elm St.
Green was released from the Guilford County jail in Greensboro after posting a $500 bond.
