Man dies after overnight fire

Dog, puppies are pulled out

A man has died after a house fire overnight at Underwood and D.B. Todd Boulevard, according to the Nashville Fire Department.
Firefighters arrived on the scene between 1 and 2 a.m., assistant chief Steve Holt estimated, and responders pulled a man out of the home. The man was transported to a hospital but died, according to Holt.A pit bull with a litter of puppies was rescued, Holt said. The animals are in the possession of the fire department until they can be transferred to an animal rescue group, Holt said.
Cause of the fire is still under investigation. Firefighters had the fire under control in about 15-20 minutes. The home did receive heavy damage. There were no other injuries, Holt said.

Man identified from fatal fire

Frederick Lamont Adams, 40, has been identified as the man who died from Monday morning’s residential fire at 1807 Underwood Street in Nashville.
The Fire Marshal is still investigating the cause.Adams, the only person inside the home at the time of the fire, was transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center where he died.
Firefighters were able to rescue a pit bull dog and her puppies from the home.
