Police seek help after finding abandoned dog

By Crystal Lindell, Northwest Herald

Police are looking for information after they found an abandoned dog in a garage near the 8500 block of Ferris Road in Harvard.

McHenry County Animal Control found the dog about 1 p.m. Dec. 7 in a cage with several blankets and drywall debris inside the cage.

The dog, which appeared to be a 1-year-old, light brown, pit-bull or pit-bull mix, was still alive but was suffering from severe neglect and had to be euthanized, police said.

McHenry County Sheriff’s Office officials ask that anyone with information call their office at 815-338-2144, or Crime Stoppers of McHenry County at 1-800-762-7867.

Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to arrest and prosecution.
