Police Seek Information On Dog Attack

3-Year-Old Bitten In Face

Asheville Animal Services are asking for help to locate the owner of a dog who attacked a 3-year-old boy in the area of Hi Alta Avenue and Deaverview Road.
Police said the boy was bitten in the face after he got off the bus.Investigators said the pit bull type dog with brown fur and brown eyes was running loose in the area.They said the boy and his mother were walking down the sidewalk when the dog bit the child.Police want to locate the owner to verify the dog’s vaccination status and to take the necessary steps to protect the child against the rabies virus.Anyone with information on how to contact the owner is asked to call Asheville police at (828) 252-1110 or Animal Services at (828) 259-5872.

Police: Pit bull bites Asheville 3-year-old in the face

The Asheville Police Department Animal Services Unit is asking the public’s help to locate the owner of a dog involved in a recent bite incident.
The incident occurred at about 3 p.m. Wednesday in the area of Hi Alta Avenue and Deaverview Road.The victim is a 3-year-old boy who was bitten in the face by a pit bull type dog that was running loose in the area, according to an APD press release.
A woman who answered the family’s telephone Friday said the child was doing fine and that the injuries were not serious. She declined to provide her name or discuss the attack.
The boy and his mother were getting off a bus and walking down the sidewalk when the dog approached and bit the child, police said.
The dog had brown fur and brown eyes.
An Animal Services Unit officer searched the area, but did not locate the dog. Police want to locate the owner to verify the dog’s vaccination status and to take the necessary steps to protect the child against the rabies virus.
Anyone with information on how to contact the owner is asked to call APD at 252-1110 or Animal Services at (828) 259-5872.
