Drugs, cash, guns seized in 3 local raids

By Steve Bennish, Dayton Daily News

Members of the Greene County ACE Task Force raided three homes Tuesday in Huber Heights and Dayton, seizing a large quantity of marijuana, handguns, vehicles and tens of thousands of dollars in cash.Bruce May, director of the Agencies for Combined Enforcement, or ACE, on Wednesday characterized the raids as the take-down of what investigators have determined is a large marijuana trafficking operation.
The raids occurred at 5732 Benedict Road in Huber Heights and 715 and 719 Smithville Road in Dayton. At the home on Benedict, two pit bulls were seized and a third shot.
“Last night was a major culmination of the case,” May said.
There were no immediate arrests, he added. Up to a dozen people could be targets in the investigation, he said, which included purchases of high-grade marijuana grown with sophisticated cultivation methods that’s sold for as much as $10,000 per pound. Customers are believed to include residents in all counties bordering Montgomery and Greene, May said.
Marijuana growing equipment was also seized, May said.

  2. That is $625 per ounce.
Admittedly, I haven't bought any in about 18 years, but at that time $280 was a fairly common price for premium grade marijuana, with 'commercial' ( I believe it's called 'stress' today) grade going for about $80.
Another article recently had the police confiscating 4 tons (8,000 pounds) of marijuana that they estimated to have a 'street value' of $41 million.
Sorry, I know that I am not THAT out of touch...
