Owner suspects Pit bull stolen to fight

By Brooks Baehr, Hawaii News Now

More than a year after the family pit bull, named Keli, was stolen from his yard, Kahea Kamauu found his dog on what he describes as a "farm" in Laie. Veterinarians who treated the dog say it was close to death. It had dog bites all over its body, was severely malnourished, and full of hook worms, tape worms, and heart worms. Kamauu, who suspects Keli was stolen for use in organized dog fights, is nursing Keli back to health. Kamauu has also asked police and the Hawaiian Humane Society to investigate the farm where he found Keli. They visited the farm Saturday.
