Pit Bull Safe After Running Loose Near Lowry Tunnel in Mpls.

By Josh Simeone, KSTP

Animal control officers in Minneapolis tell 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS a pit bull is safe after it was caught running loose in the area of the Lowry Tunnel during rush hour Tuesday morning..
A 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS crew at the scene captured video of the dog as it lay near a fence.
Traffic Management Cameras caught the dog running just feet away from the busy interstate in a grassy area between westbound lanes of traffic and an on-ramp.
Traffic was briefly impacted as crews worked to capture the dog, however, 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS traffic reporter Rusty Gatenby says there were no significant delays.
A Minnesota State Patrol Trooper's car and the vehicle of a highway helper could be seen  pulled off to the side of the road while the dog was loose.
It's not clear how the dog ended up in the area or who is responsible for it.
