Pit bull fatally shot by deputies serving warrant in Pompano Beach

By Danielle A. Alvarez, from Orlando Sentinel

A dog identified by the Broward Sheriff's Office as a pit bull was fatally shot Friday morning by deputies who were serving a warrant, the agency said.
The deputies arrived at the residence in the 700 block of Northwest Fifth Avenue shortly after 7:30 a.m. to serve the arrest warrant, the Sheriff's Office said.
"They were approaching the house and the dog charged at them and they fired," said Jim Leljedal, director of media relations for BSO.
Two deputies fired the fatal shots.
The man named in the warrant was then taken into custody without further incident, Leljedal said. He declined to provide more details about the arrest.
It's not clear if the arrested man was the dog's owner.
Neighbors said the dog's name was "Boo-boo."
No further information was immediately available.
