Police: Suffolk child home alone with snakes, lizards, pit bull dogs

By Karen Hopkins, WVEC

Police say a Suffolk man went to work, leaving his seven-year-old son home alone.
In the Majestic Drive house with the boy, authorities found 19 snakes, 2 bearded dragons (lizards) and 2 pit bull dogs, City spokeswoman Debbie George told WVEC.com.
Emmanuel Velazquez, 28, was charged Wednesday with cruelty and injuries to children.
George said the boy called 911 to say his dog was missing and when the dispatcher asked about his parents, he said they were at work.
That prompted police to go to the home and investigate the situation, George stated.
Days earlier, police say they found Velazquez’s five-year-old wandering down the road alone.
George added Velazquez and the boy's mother are divorced.
