A Woodbine state police K-9 handler fatally shot a pitbull after it attacked him and his police dog Tuesday, Aug. 2.
Police say as detectives and troopers made their way to the 628 Jefferson Ave. home to serve an arrest warrant, a pitbull came through the front door. The dog immediately attacked the handler and the police dog, police say.
Just who owned the pitbull and if any charges are being filed were not known at press time.
The state police K-9 handler kicked the pitbull, but the dog latched its jaws onto the state police K-9. The handler kicked the dog a few more times, police say.
The handler then fired two shots into the pitbull. Animal control was called in, but the dog had already died.
